Selection Process

• The National Informatics Centre (NIC) follows a structured, merit-based selection procedure for the Scientist-B Recruitment 2026. Candidates are shortlisted primarily on the basis of their valid GATE score, followed by document verification and interview.

  Selection Stages

  • GATE Score Shortlisting (1:5 Ratio):
    Candidates will be shortlisted for the next stage based on their valid GATE 2024 / 2025 / 2026 score. Shortlisting is generally done in the ratio of 1:5 against the number of vacancies.
  • Document Verification (DV):
    Shortlisted candidates must present their original educational certificates, GATE scorecard, identity proof, and category documents for verification.
  • Personal Interaction / Interview:
    Eligible candidates will appear for the Personal Interaction / Interview, where their technical knowledge, communication skills, and suitability for the Scientist-B role will be assessed.
  • Final Merit List:
    The final selection will be based on a combined merit score, calculated as:
    60% weightage – GATE Score
    40% weightage – Interview Performance
